The Muslim Brotherhood (founded in 1928) and the military dictatorship (ruling Egypt since 1952) have a parallel ideology and a long history that makes them simultaneously rivals and allies. Over the decades, they off-and-on cooperated in an autocratic system bound by Islamic law (Shari'a) and in oppressing liberal, secular elements. मुस्लिम ब्रदरहुड ( 1928 में स्थापित) और सैन्य तानाशाही ( मिस्र पर 1952 से शासन कर रही है) दोनों की एक साथ की विचारधारा और लम्बा इतिहास है जो कि दोनों को एकसाथ प्रतिद्वन्दी और सहयोगी बनाता है। दशकों से दोनों ने एक दूसरे के साथ लुका छिपी के साथ ऐसी अधिनायकवादी पद्धति के लिये सहयोग किया है जो कि इस्लामी विधि ( शरियत) के आधार पर सम्बद्ध है और उदारवादी तथा सेक्युलर तत्वों का दमन करती है।
